Developed from agricultural weapons used to scrape roots and thresh rice, the karambit was considered a peasant's weapon and as such unworthy for the trained warrior classes.</span></p> <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-f90fda1f-8a54-0e12-6dce-5692723cf109"><span>The karambit is held with the blade pointing downwards across the fist, with the hole in the dagger handle used to secure the knife in the fist by inserting the index finger in it. It's design is suited to a slashing or hooking motion with the wooden ring of the handle around the index finger also acting as a guard when punching the opponent.
