Splint vambrace for full contact bohurt fighting <p dir="ltr"><span>Ravencrest's splint forearms are custom made to your measurements from tempered spring steel with a thickness of between 0.8 and 1.2mm, Metal strips are riveted to a sandwich of thick black felt and robust cotton drill, alternating between the topside and underside. This creates a strong and rigid tube encasing the forearm and protecting it from strikes. The armour is attached via strudy point holes sewn into the armour.</span></p> <p><span id="docs-internal-guid-f90fda1f-78b4-c765-6045-7235ffab42a4"><span>Splint armour is dated to the 14th and early 15th Century and is considered transitional armour, between brigandine and the move to full-plate harnesses. Narrow strips of metal (the splints) are sewn or riveted  longitudinally  onto a fabric or leather backing through small holes that pierce them. This style of armour was believed to be most common to Northern and West Europe during 1325 and 1375 and was thought to be typically worn by a less wealthy knight or man-at-arms. This is a worse case scenario though and very rarely happens.</p> <p>I placed my order for my armour with Ravencrest in time for the Battle of the Nations World Championship. The armour itself fitted like a glove and not once did it give me any problems or played on my mind before competing. My measurements were to the letter, which I was worried about. I've worn armour in the past that didn't quite fit and changes the way you move.. Overall, well happy with the build quality.
