Bellow faced Salade Helmet - late 15th Century
14G steel, excellent helemt for reenactment
Sizes: M: 25 / 26 inches
Ravencrest's helmet is crafted in the Italian style, with a shirt, round tail that remains close to the back of the neck. The visor is in the extended-bellows style, found on transitional pieces that sit between the Sallet and the Maximillian 'close-helm' of the 16th Century; dated from approximately 1490. Our reenactment helmet includes an adjustable leather strap and leather liner for comfort and optimal fit.
The bellow faced Sallet (or salade) was a popular style throughout Europe in the latter part of the 15th Century (1450-1499). The style split off into a number on interpretations, all with the common feature of a close fit around the front and sides of the head..
