This flexible and lightweight gambeson is manufactured by an established armour-shop who supply the Ukrainian and Russian HMB Bohurt National Teams, Each one is made according to your unique measurements and requires no ‘breaking in’, like current gambesons available in the UK.

The gambeson is machine quilted as a part of the construction process, allowing this feature of the garment to become part of the design; seams and lines follow the movement and joints of the body working with you when fighting from the first day you wear it.

Padded gambesons of this kind are historically a quilted jacket consisting of a number of fabric layers, made from canvas or linen, with quilted inners made from softer linen or wool.  For noblemen and royalty, the top layer was silk as a display of wealth.  More common colours included red brown and natural linen, green and blue.

This item is made to order outside the UK. Although we make every attempt to reducing manufacturing and shipping times a wait of up to 15 weeks can happen. This is a worse case scenario though and very rarely happens.

I placed my order for my armour with Ravencrest in time for the Battle of the Nations World Championship. The armour itself fitted like a glove and not once did it give me any problems or played on my mind before competing. My measurements were to the letter, which I was worried about. I've worn armour in the past that didn't quite fit and changes the way you move.. Overall, well happy with the build quality. It was not damaged during the tournament and took twenty minutes for my squire to fit to my body. Excellent service!
